Our visit to Old MacDonald’s Farm
I took my children along to Old MacDonald’s Farm in Essex. We chose a sunny day so we could experience the best of what the farm had to offer, and let the kids run around and see all the animals and go on all the outdoor play areas.
The farm is set on quite a large area with several outdoor play areas, sand pit areas, bouncy slide, trampolines, and lots of farm animals which if the kids want to feed them, you can buy some feed to give to some of the animals.
We wondered around in the sunshine, and what should my kids see first, but a rollercoaster – how cool – and something you don’t expect to find on a farm ! Its a great addition and means that you can sit and rest while the kids line up and spend a while going round and round on a Caterpillar ride, but its really a worm 🙂
There is an indoor play area too, which allows you to escape the heat of he sunshine, or the rain, and the kids can spend a while.
There are mini train rides, mini horse rides and an animated froggie show.
The best part of the day for my kids was certainly the rollercoaster, but they loved the fact you could walk round and feed the goats and other animals.
Of course, on the way out there is a gift shop, but there is a lovely selection of gifts and toys, and we treated ourselves to an ice cream !
As my kids were still wanting to explore, we drove down the road to a country park, and wandered round the lake and fed the reindeer, which my children found hilarious.
