Drusillas is a fantastic way to spend a day with the family.
There are animals, activities, trails, play areas and more to keep both the young, and young at heart occupied.
We were lucky to spend a day in July at Drusillas, and the weather stayed nice and sunny so we could eat our picnic and let the kids run around one of the fantastic play areas.
Wandering through the Zoo, you get the feeling that they really care about their animals, and they do their best to look after them. We often saw keepers cleaning the animals, or checking on them.
One thing my son loved was the Zoolympics, which you collect a booklet and wander round the park looking for animals, finding their stamp and stamping your booklet.
Drusillas also offer a ‘Keeper for a day’ experience, giving you the chance to shadow one of the keepers and get involved with cleaning, feeding and looking after a selection of the animals and we saw one of the young children doing this throughout our day.
The highlight for my children was the fantastic play area next to Thomas the Tank Engine, which has kids of all ages smiling, as you get the chance to travel round the park and see the whole park whilst travelling on a train.
The afternoon was spent mainly in the indoor play area, the outdoor play area, letting our kids go wild and wear themselves out.
Animals are only half the fun at Drusillas! Our brilliant play areas including Go Wild! and Go Bananas! have masses of climbing, sliding, jumping and swinging fun, thoughtfully separated for different age groups.
The interactive maze, Edens Eye, takes visitors on an adventure style quest through a host of different worlds and indoors there is Amazon Adventure, a state-of-the-art soft play complex. There are masses of things to do for kids of all ages.
Every day is a Thomas day at Drusillas with Thomas the Tank Engine, Annie and Clarabel offering a train service 362 days a year! Don’t miss Diesel around the track, James in the loco shed, Cranky at Sodor Docks and Bulgy the Bus. The Fat Controller also causes a locomotion when he alights at the Park to take control of the efficient running of the railway.
All in all, a brilliant day out for the kids, and parents alike.
