Our visit to The Historic Dockyard in Chatham

The Historic Dockyard, Chatham is a stunning 80 acre site with historic buildings, museum galleries, historic warships and a vibrant programme of events and activities.

We recently visited The Historic Dockyard in Chatham, in the view that our children would like to explore an old boatyard, and spend some time on an old warship and submarine.

The Dockyard is made up of different sections, allowing you to take your time and explore, as the Dockyard is spread out over quite a large area.

My daughter and I chose a time slot to explore the submarine Ocelots - this was a fascinating tour, and its surprising how small inside a submarine is.

My son found the outdoor play area great fun, which allowed him to run about and have lots of fun.

Both my daughter and son enjoyed the pipe bending room, allowing them to see where they used to bend the pipes for the ships and they could have a go themselves !

My daughter and wife were very pleased to see the buildings that were featured in the BBC 1 program - Midwives, and there are tours at specific dates through the year, giving you more of an insight.

All in all, there is plenty to keep kids and adults of all ages occupied, and lots of photo opportunities.
