Win a family ticket to Suffolk Owl Sanctuary

Suffolk Owl Sanctuary is a registered charity and provides the only designated Raptor Hospital in the county.

It’s remit is threefold: conservation, education and rehabilitation.

The hospital offers treatment and rehabilitation facilities to around 100 injured wild owls and other birds of prey every year, most of which are returned back to their native habitat once fully recovered.

Hospital and veterinary costs are met by public donation and a small admission fee to the sanctuary’s two acre site.

Within it’s grounds, visitors can discover over 80 owls and other birds of prey housed in naturalistic, species appropriate accommodation.

Information boards aid identification and bear Braille overlays for increased accessibility.

Three spectacular flying displays take place every day, showcasing a wonderful variety of species from the iconic Barn Owl to the majestic Bald Eagle.

The free flying sessions offer a rare opportunity to experience some awe inspiring birds in very close proximity - a memorable sight to behold.

In addition, visitors can enjoy the pretty Woodland Walk with bug hotels, hedgehog teepee, ladybird houses and wildlife pond.

This location is also home to the cheeky meerkat colony and, high in their tree top aviaries, the shy red squirrels.

The central focal point of the centre is the relaxing Sensory Garden featuring water feature, tactile sculptural seating and “touch and smell” wheelchair accessible herb garden.

Children can enjoy a custom built inclusive play area with wheelchair accessible equipment, mini maze and tumble safe surface.

There is also an indoor, interactive Discovery Centre, bringing the world of conservation to life and unique owlie gift shop.

Level, tarmac paths provide easy access for wheelchairs and buggies throughout the sanctuary.

There is also plenty of space to picnic - wheelchair friendly tables are provided.
